Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Boston, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The purpose of this project is to continue addressing foundation deficiencies in the wall and its foundation. A recent engineering assessment and follow-up conceptual design work indicates that the mid- portion of the north-facing wall would benefit from similar foundation improvements as were completed on the south side in 2021 and the east side in 2026. The work includes the removal of deck boards and re-securing the deck's existing joists and beam framing by replacing 1. ) four (4) existing Sonotube posts with new screw jacks supported on new reinforced concrete foundations, 2.) six (6) metal angle cross braces designed to accommodate the screw jacks, 3.) all existing joist hangars, anchor bolts and fasteners, and 4.) deck boards. The design includes screw jacks to enable the deck's height to be adjusted as future settlement occurs. All new metals will be corrosion resistant. Staff will ensure that property owners, utilities, and the public are minimally impacted by the construction. The repairs will ensure the Boardwalk's compliance with State Accessibility regulations for slopes and cross slopes.
