All work in this contract is located in the City of Northampton. The work is intended to provide oncall response in the event of a water supply emergency repair that exceeds Department of Public Works equipment and labor capabilities. The scope of work to be performed under this contract generally consists of emergency repair and/or replacement of water piping and fittings at an approximate depth of 4-7 feet, backfilling and compacting with approved materials and restoration of the site, utilities and streetscape affected by the water break and emergency work performed. This work may include, but not be limited to: splicing into broken water pipe and installing Class 52 Ductile Iron or copper service water pipe and fittings, replacing valves or hydrants, disinfection and testing, backfilling, compacting and reestablishment of road subbase, base and surface and other features within the extents of work as required. The work will require protection of all underground utilities, trench shoring, steel plating to protect open excavations, dewatering and/or by-pass pumping of groundwater, storm water or wastewater if required, and may include repair of sanitary sewer or drainage piping broken during the water break and/or repair thereof, as well as restoration of the roadway section. Utilization of the bid items in the contract is dependent on the needs of the Department, and the degree of expenditure under the contract is not guaranteed. The project includes prevailing wage rates. This is a City funded project. Bid deposit and 50% Payment Bond is required. Contract renewals shall be limited to two additional years beyond the initial one-year contract.
