Request for Qualifications - Fibre-Optic Network Construction Contractors. Anisininew Okimawin - Island Lake Tribal Council ("AO") invites experienced construction contractors to submit their qualifications for construction of the AO Broadband Project, a 400 km fibre-optic backbone network following the Manitoba winter road system from Norway House Cree Nation to the remote First Nations communities of Wasagamack, St. Theresa Point, Garden Hill, Red Sucker Lake, Island Lake and Stevenson Island. The anticipated scope of work includes clearing, approximately 400 km of underground and underwater conduit installation, fibre-optic cable installation and splicing, placement of vaults and other network infrastructure, and testing -- executed in remote terrain with winter road, air and barge access, and all-season, camp-based construction. Contractors should have demonstrated experience with ploughing, trenching, HDD and other installation methods suited to the Canadian Shield, wetlands and permafrost-affected terrain, and with operations in fly-in communities in northern Canada.
