Gjoa Haven existing distribution system is comprised of two feeders F1 and F2. Feeder 1 feeds major part of the town while Feeder 2 feeds part of the town plus the Uptown area heading towards the Water Treatment Plant and Airport installations. The purpose of this project is to upgrade certain sections of the existing distribution feeders F1 and F2 bringing them up to acceptable industry standards. The typical tasks involved in this project include: Upgrade aged or shorter poles to standard 45ft and 50 ft poles. Upgrading 1 Ph line to 3 Ph for phase load balance at certain locations. Re-routing line sections at some locations to manage long spans. Raising cables at few locations to manage low sag. Replacing end-of-life or damaged pole mount distribution transformers Upgrading 1 Ph and 3 Ph transformers to larger sizes as well wherever needed. Re-conductoring of overhead line cables from #2 AWG to 1/0 AWG AASC. Taking outages, wherever applicable, commissioning, upgrading and energization of the installations. Transfer of existing infrastructure to new poles. Removal of decommissioned poles and structures besides storing as per QEC guidelines. The main purpose of this upgrade is to restructure the old distribution infrastructure with up-to-date Distribution Standards. The project will benefit the hamlet of Gjoa Haven by improving the system reliability, provide adequate feeder balancing, public and line crew safety and meet acceptable industry standards. The upgrade system has built-in redundancy for switching around as well as minimize outage time. The Contractor is to provide the Services as per the attached specimen Contract and its attached schedules and bid accordingly
