Installation of fire lines in Okaloacoochee Slough WMA. The intent of this ITB is to obtain competitive pricing for fire line installation and vegetation clearing within Okaloacoochee Slough Wildlife Management Area (OKS WMA) in Hendry County, Florida (Figure 1) per the specifications contained herein. For fiscal year 2026-2027, the awarded Bidder (Contractor) shall clear approximately 2 miles of vegetation to establish a 50-foot right-of-way along area boundary lines. The Contractor shall also root rake and install approximately 36 miles of fire lines. This 36-mile installation consists of a 30-foot-wide root raked line followed by a 16-foot-wide disked line in the middle (Figure 2). Fire line preparation will include leveling and/or grading of the surface to ensure a smooth transition. Bidders shall provide a price per tenth mile for fire line installation and price per tenth mile for right -of-way clearing. The FWC reserves the right to increase or decrease the size of the project as needed based on quotes received, annual budget, etc. The Contractor shall begin work within thirty (30) days of purchase order issuance unless otherwise determined by the FWC Project Manager. All work shall be completed by June 30, 2027. Partial payments will be allowed for completed portions of the project.
