The work under this Contract comprises the furnishing of all tools, equipment, materials and labor for the construction of the New Hill Road Culvert Replacement Project located in the Town of Putnam Valley, New York, complete, in place and ready for use in accordance with the Contract Documents. The principal features of the Work to be performed under this project are defined in the Contract Documents and include: site clearing and grubbing; demolition and removal of an existing bridge structure consisting of Steel I-beam and timber girders supporting 4" x 12" timber beams with 2" x 12" timber decking mechanically fastened to the beams (The steel and timber girders extend in the direction of the roadway and are supported by cast-in-place concrete abutments); demolition and removal of existing concrete abutments, each of the two abutments measures approximately 14' L x 10' ht. x 30" thick, demolition and removal of existing concrete wingwalls installed on both the upstream and downstream sides of the structure along each stream bank, each wingwall is similar in height to the abutments and extends approximately 6 ft. beyond respective abutment on the upstream and downstream sides; removal of +-5,690 sf of asphalt concrete pavement; demolition and removal of +-40 lf of timber guide rail including 6" x 6" square timber curb on bridge deck; removal, storage, and replacement of +-170 lf of 3 1/2 ft. height fieldstone wall; installation and removal of a temporary gravel surfaced access road and temporary 60 lf x 16 ft. W steel & timber modular bridge structure; temporary stream by-pass pumping using skid or trailer mounted, diesel powered, mechanical pumping equipment; installation and removal of a temporary sand bag cofferdam in the existing stream channel; installation of a deep foundation system to support the new arch culvert structure the foundation system shall consist of sixteen (16), HP 10 x 42 steel H-piles, each advanced to an estimated depth of +-65 vertical feet (VF) below grade with a steel reinforced, cast-in-place concrete pile cap installed under each leg of the arch structure; installation of a new 36' W (clear span) x 9'-0" height (above pile cap) x 30 linear foot pre-cast concrete, segmental arch culvert with wingwalls and a headwall installed at each end; re-grading and restoration of asphalt cement concrete roadway including new full depth asphalt pavement roadway section measuring 345 lf x 18 ft. W; installation of +-380 lf of timber guide rail; installation and removal of temporary erosion and sediment control (E&SC) practices and construction site fencing; and site restoration work and all other appurtenant and related work as shown, specified and required to complete the project. For any reason whatsoever, or for no reason, the Town reserves the right to waive any informalities in the bids or to reject any and all bids. No bidder may withdraw their bid except by written request submitted at least twenty-four hours before the time of opening or until the lapse of 45 days after the actual opening thereof.
