Site work for a water / sewer project in Horsham, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Drilling of one 12-inch diameter test well and performance of one 72-hour aquifer test. Estimated Contract Value: 180000-220000 Questions Due Date: Oct 6th 2026, 5:00 PM EDT All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents are to be directed to Engineer by clicking on the Questions tab within PennBid *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The work to be done under this contract consists of all labor, equipment and materials to Drill one 12-inch diameter test well and perform 72-hour pumping test as described elsewhere in the Project Manual. A Well Drilling Install one (1 ) test well drilled with an air-rotary drill rig to a depth of approximately 420 feet. The test well is located in the Stockton Formation (sandstone/shale) in Horsham Township. CONTRACTOR shall install a temporary treatment system. Treatment system should consist of baffled frac tanks of sufficient volume to be able to contain the flow of 400 gallons per minute (GPM) during drilling operations. Granular activated carbon (or equivalent) treatment system required to remove PFAS compounds. Treatment should be capable of treating 400 gallons per minute and for removing combined PFOS and PFOA to less than 70 ng/L, TDS <500 mg/L, and TSS <260 mg/L prior to discharge to Park Creek Sewage Treatment Plant. Temporary treatment shall consist of removing sediment from water in temporary settling tanks, pumping through sediment filters and granular activated carbon filtration, and discharging to the on-site Wastewater Treatment Plant. As an alternate to providing a granular activated carbon treatment system, CONTRACTOR may provide cost to remove sediment sufficiently from the drilling water so that the drilling water may be pumped to existing onsite water treatment system. CONTRACTOR shall install 0.375-inch thick, 16-inch diameter steel well casing to depth of 20 feet at top of bedrock within 20-inch diameter borehole. More or less depth may be required based on field conditions as directed by ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR shall install 0.330-inch thick, 12-inch diameter steel well casing from 18 inches above ground surface to minimum depth of 50 feet within 16-inch diameter borehole. shall weld all sections of pipe. More depth may be required based on field conditions as directed by ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR shall install a drive shoe at the bottom of the 12-inch diameter casing. CONTRACTOR shall install grout in the annular space between the steel well casing and well hole with Portland cement grout. The grouting shall be performed with the use of a Tremie pipe starting from the bottom of the steel casing and continuing to the ground surface. CONTRACTOR shall construct twelve (12) inch diameter borehole below the casing to 420-foot depth . CONTRACTOR shall develop each water-producing zone encountered , by surging with compressed air, to clear the zone of sediment and maximize yield. CONTRACTOR shall estimate the well yield at each water-producing zone through visual or quantitative means, depending on flow conditions. CONTRACTOR shall develop test well at the completion of drilling until the water is substantially free of sediment and as directed by ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR shall provide sanitary well seal cap for test well . CONTRACTOR shall implement erosion and sediment control measures according to PADEP protocol for handling of discharge water during drilling and pumping test. Erosion and sediment control measures shall include installation of silt sock surrounding work area downhill from drilling location . If necessary, a sump will be installed adjacent to borehole. CONTRACTOR shall discharge water produced from drilling into temporary settling tanks, sediment filters, and granular activated carbon prior to discharge of water to onsite wastewater treatment plant. Pump Testing: CONTRACTOR shall install test pump in one (1 ) well . Pump shall be installed to depth of 250 feet and shall be capable of pumping 500 gpm with head of 228 feet of water above pump and discharging to onsite existing granular activated carbon water treatment plant. CONTRACTOR shall install two (2) 240-foot long 3/4"-diameter pipes in the test well for water level monitoring purposes. CONTRACTOR provide generator, pressure gauge, ball valve, flow meter, and a sample port at the well head for sampling during the pump test. CONTRACTOR shall pump water from pumping test to existing on-site granular activated carbon water treatment plant. CONTRACTOR shall operate pumping equipment during one (1 ) 4 -hour stepdrawdown test with constant pumping rates of 350, 400, 450, and 500 gallons per minute or as directed by ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR shall remain onsite during stepdrawdown test. CONTRACTOR shall operate pumping equipment during one (1 ) 72-hour aquifer pumping test at a constant rate of 400 gallons per minute or at a rate as directed by ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR shall remain onsite during pumping test. After completion of pumping test, contractor shall disinfect well with sodium hypochlorite according to American Water Works Association (AWWA) standard C654
