The project entails construction of a new modular building to be located at Fox Lake, Alberta. Fox Lake is a small community in northern Alberta governed by the Little Red River Cree Nation. The community is located along the Peace River, roughly 86km east of Fort vermilion. Access to the community is limited to seasonal ice roads, ferries, and air travel . Building materials and large equipment can only be brought in via ice roads. In 2023, the community was devastated by wildfires that destroyed a large portion of housing and infrastructure, including the previous detachment. The site for the new detachment is on a partially developed parcel of land roughly 0.79 hectares in size and adjacent to the Main Road . The new detachment is anticipated to consist of approximately 760m2 gross building area plus a roughly 95m2 outbuilding along with site and utility improvements, road works, parking, and landscaping.
