The Kamloops Airport ( or “Airport”) is planning to replace the existing Field Electrical Centre (FEC) and associated airfield electrical distribution and control systems to support the continued safety, reliability, and operational continuity of the Airport's airfield lighting system. Construction work is expected to begin on or around September 2027 with approximately four (4) weeks of underground and site works. Following a planned construction pause, work is expected to resume in December 2027 for approximately four (4) weeks to complete installation, commissioning, and system switchover activities. 3. The existing FEC is located within the Airport Operations Building and houses the main airfield power distribution equipment, four Constant Current Regulators (CCRs), and the airfield lighting control equipment. The existing airfield lighting control system is obsolete (with exception of its touchscreen in the FSS), with repair and replacement parts no longer available. The existing external standby generator also supplies both airfield and non-airfield lighting loads. 4. The project scope generally includes the following, as shown in Figure 1: 1. Installation of a new FEC building with exterior dimensions approximately 9m x 4m with power distribution and building equipment (including lighting, receptacles, etc.). The highest point of the building will be approximately 4.3m above prepared/finished ground elevation. Installation of a new standby power system including generator set, fuel system, controls, outdoor weatherproof enclosure and ventilation system. 2. 3. Relocation and upgrade of airfield lighting power infrastructure, including underground raceways and cabling, constant current regulators (CCRs), and associated installation within the new FEC. 4.
