(MAI) invites offers from qualified Vendors for the PAB Bunker C Pipe Removal. The project is located at the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal at Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador. The work includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1.1. The scope of work is for the demolition of existing Bunker C Fuel Piping System. The Marine Atlantic fuel system piping consists of two (2) existing piping systems, heavy fuel oil (HFO/BKC) and marine diesel oil (MDO). The majority of the scope pertains to the removal of the HFO/BKC piping. There are express areas where the scope of work involves MDO piping that are directly indicated. General reference to MDO piping on the drawings in relation to the HFO piping removal is for reference only. 1.2. Contractor shall demolish all Bunker C Piping System as indicated on the drawings. Demolition to include: 1.2.1. Unbolting or cutting section of existing piping for removal. 1.2.2. Removal of any pipe supports that are individual to the Bunker C System. 1.2.3. Cut piping away from any combined anchor supports. Make repairs to support for continued service for MDO Piping System. 1.2.4. Removal of remnants from the abandoned heat trace system. Removal to include cabling and control boxes. 1.3. The Contractor shall supply, fabricate and install pipe supports for the MDO piping system that is currently supported from the BKC piping by hangers. 1.3.1. Installation of sonotube pipe supports to include the excavation and backfill, forming, rebar and concrete. 1.3.2. Fabricate, paint and install structural steel pipe support anchored to sonotube base. 1.4. Remove and dispose of insulation and cladding that remains on the Bunker C piping. 1.5. Open three (3) existing pipe trenches that crosses beneath the roadway at the A.S.I.L pipe bridge, from the aboveground pipe routing to the blender building and the north end of Dock #1. Scope of Work associated pipe trenches include: 1.5.1. Saw cut and remove asphalt covering trench covers. 1.5.2. Remove trench covers to expose interior of trench for removal of piping. 1.5.3. Remove Bunker C and abandoned MDO piping and pipe supports in the trench and access pits at either end of trench. 1.5.4. Bunker C piping will be cladded and insulated within trench. 1.5.5. Backfill open trench with approved compacted structural fill to match grade of existing asphalt surface. 1.5.6. Contractor to provide an extra 15 m3 of clean structural fill for Owner's maintenance use. 1.6. Supply, prepare and install coating for repairs to any damaged, exposed or new infrastructure in the course of the work completion. 1.7. Mobilization and demobilization, including all labor and equipment as specified and as required to carry out the work. 1.8. Contractor shall perform the work included as indicated on the drawings in this specification by providing all supervision, labour, materials, supplies, construction tools, equipment and services, hoisting, transportation, receiving, handling, storage, disposal, and all other services and expenditures, unless otherwise specified in the scope, including those not specifically mentioned but which are necessary for completion of work. 1.9. Any damage to coatings of neighboring piping shall be repaired to match existing. Supply and install paint coating for bare metal surfaces, where required. Surface to be prepared for the application of finished coating to meet manufacturer's instructions.
