Bay Bridge Estates is a mobile home park served by common water wells and a private distribution system. Early in 2018, the park had difficulty providing an adequate water supply to its tenants. In response , the Town trucked in water to supplement the system. Park ownership has attempted to reconnect a old well that was discontinued years ago. The old well contains unacceptable levels of arsenic. The park has made several attempts at treatment. Despite earlier protections, the park was still unable to connect the old well as of the summer. In addition to the inadequate water in the park, several area residents, who have private wells, also experience water shortages in the summer of 2018. Additionally the lack of a public water supply means that the nearest fire hydrant is thousands of feet away. A solution to correct the supply and fire protection problems is to install a new 12" diameter water main from Maplewood Park on Old Bath Road to Bay Bridge Estates, a distance of 11,100 feet. This project would provide a safe and reliable drinking supply to Bay Bridge Estates as well provide fire protection to the residences along the extension. As of June 6, 2022, this project is included in the Town of Brunswick's FY 2023-2027 Budget CIP and funding is allotted for 2024-2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
