The Town of Brunswick Implemented a Quiet Zone extending from the Freeport Town Line to the Station in 2018. A requirement of a quiet zone is that the crossings be analyzed regularly to determine if the safety rating falls below the national average. With increasing traffic in Brunswick and the possibility of increased rail traffic in the future it may be necessary to add additional safety measures to the crossings to maintain the quiet zones. This would likely require the installation of quad gates at the crossings on Stanwood Street and Church Road. As of June 6, 2022, this project is included in the Town of Brunswick's FY 2023-2027 Budget CIP and funding is allotted for 2026-2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
