GNG School Campus Sidewalk Project The Town of Gray is seeking quotes from qualified engineering firms to complete the required engineered plans, studies and associated construction inspections for the Town's "Gray-New Gloucester Road and School Complex Safety Improvements" project. Addenda will be issued, as needed, solely through the Town website Kristen Muszynski, Town Planner, Town of Gray at: kmuszynski@graymaine.org The Town of Gray is located in northern Cumberland County, which is in southern Maine. Located along the Maine Turnpike (I-95), Gray is home to 8,300 people and features lakes, open spaces, residential neighborhoods, and a Village Center that is a focus area for new development under the Town of Gray's 2020 Comprehensive Plan. The Town of Gray has a Council / Manager form of government, with the Town Manager operating as the administrative head of the Town. In August 2024, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the Town of Gray a Community Project Funding grant of $834,000 for the "Gray-New Gloucester Road and School Complex Safety Improvements" project. This project is intended to improve pedestrian safety and emergency access to the Gray-New Gloucester High School and Middle School campus on Libby Hill Road, and its intersection with Route 26. On Libby Hill Road, the improvements will include removal and replacement of approximately 550 linear feet of granite curb and sidewalk (to make this section ADA accessible). Further down the road, a new 5-foot-wide sidewalk will be constructed, of approximately 1,700 feet, along with two storm drains. Lighting along the road and an improved crosswalk and landing area for the middle school will also be installed. On the high school campus, a new emergency access connection to Route 26 will be constructed, of approximately 260 ft. x 16 ft., with 10 trees removed, road base created and paved. This will be gated, allowing emergency vehicle access when necessary. A walking path will also be constructed at this site for bicycle and pedestrian use. Solar accent lighting will be included along the pedestrian path for visibility. Along Route 26 in front of the school campus, the project will include installation of approximately 500' of sidewalk, curbing and a signalized crosswalk across Route 26, with associated relocation of existing stone walls and drainage, as well as tree removal. Questions and Answers Per Section C of the RFQ, questions and requests for clarification regarding this RFQ must be directed via email to the town planner, Kristen Muszynski (kmuszynski@graymaine.org).
