The Town of Readfield seeks proposals from qualified contractors to remove snow, control ice, apply salt and sand, and perform other winter road maintenance work on all municipally-owned roads, state-aid roads, and intersections in the Town of Readfield totaling approximately 34.5 miles. The work is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2022 and continue for three winter seasons with the option of extending to a fourth. A Bid Guaranty letter or Bid Bond is required. The bid must be accompanied either by a bid bond at 5% of the combined value of Items 1 and 2 of the bid, or an official bank check, cashier's check, certified check, certificate of deposit, or United States postal money order in an equal amount payable to the Town of Readfield. The Contractor shall provide either an Irrevocable Letter of Credit or a Performance Bond and insurance certificates conforming to this Contract by October 1 of each contract year. Each winter season's initial payment will be contingent upon the Town having this information on file. The Letter of Credit or Performance Bond shall set reasonable standards to ensure the best interest of the Town. The Letter of Credit or Performance Bond shall be in the amount of 80% of the contract price for Items 1 and 2 of the bid and must be procured from a company The term of the contract is for three (3) years, covering the Winter Season from October 1 to May 1 of each year (hereinafter "Winter Season"), beginning on October 1, 2022 and ending on May 1, 2025. The Town and Contractor, by mutual agreement, may choose to extend this Contract for an additional year according to the provided bid under all of the terms of this Contract. The Town or Contractor must notify the other party in writing by March 1, 2025 if they would prefer to extend the Contract for the fourth additional Winter Season. The Town reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids or portions thereof for any reason.
