Site work and paving for a road / highway in Richmond, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The project involves full depth pavement reclamation, fine grading, variable depth gravel base, hot mix asphalt base paving, and installing gravel shoulders on approximately 11,700 linear feet of Beedle Road in Richmond. The Town of Richmond reserves the right to adjust the quantities contained in the Bid Form as needed in order to stay within the project budget. The Town of Richmond reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any technical or legal deficiencies, and to accept any bid which is deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Richmond, not necessarily the lowest bid. Work under this contract: A. Work under this contract includes all work required for the Beedle Road Pavement Reclamation project for the Town of Richmond. In general, the work involves full depth pavement reclamation and fine grading, installing variable depth gravel, hot mix asphalt base paving, installing gravel shoulders, and other incidental items as required to complete the project. B. Specific items of work are included, but are not limited to: a. Traffic control and construction signage. b. Cleaning the existing paved surfaces to be paved. c. A tack coat shall be installed on all paved surfaces prior to paving. d. Full depth pavement reclamation and fine grading. e. Installing variable depth gravel base. f. 2" hot mix asphalt base course paving (thickness specified is following compaction). g. Installing 2-foot gravel shoulders. h. Other incidental items required to complete the project. C. The project is located at the top of the hill near utility pole #6 easterly to the southbound overpass bridge pavement joint, and from the northbound overpass bridge pavement joint to Marston Road. The two recently paved sections (approximately 150 linear feet) at the new box culvert locations will remain in place. General Notes A. Care shall be taken to prevent damage to the project area. All disturbed areas are to be repaired per Specification, or in the case of disturbance beyond pay limits shall be restored or repaired to a condition at least equal to that existing prior to the beginning of work. B. All gravel driveways and entrances shall be reconstructed with a 12" paved apron, and gravel installed to match the new pavement. All paved driveways shall be reconstructed and repaved as needed to match into the new pavement. C. Any work required by the plans and specifications that is not an item listed on the Bid Form shall be considered Incidental, for which no additional payment will be provided to the Contractor. D. The Contractor is responsible for the proper disposal of all excess material removed as part of the project. E. F. The Contractor is responsible for job site safety and shall comply with all pertinent OSHA regulations. The Contractor is responsible for contacting the Dig-Safe Center at 1-888-DIGSAFE, 4-2 and shall comply with their requirements. G. The Contractor is responsible for erosion and sediment control, and shall install measures such as silt fence, hay bales, temporary mulching in accordance with the Maine Erosion and Sediment Control Best Management Practices, by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection latest edition. H. Traffic control shall include: a. Construction signs in accordance with MaineDOT Maintenance of Traffic in Construction Zones standards. b. c. d. Flaggers shall be utilized for lane closures, and when construction equipment or construction personnel are within the travelway. Road closure is not allowed. A minimum of one lane of traffic shall be maintained at all times, although short (approximately 5 minutes) interruptions of traffic flow are allowable. Other traffic control devices such as cones, drums, barricades, and delineators shall be utilized as needed.
