Site work for a development in Rockland, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade development.
The work generally consists of soil excavation, removal and disposal, construction of cover systems, installation of utilities, and re-grading the project site. Bids must be prepared in compliance with the Instructions to Bidders, with all components scanned and legible. Hard/original copies must be provided prior to contract signing. Proof of bid security equal to five percent of the bid amount is required. No bids may be withdrawn for 60 days after bid opening. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive informalities and irregularities. The project is funded by a federal EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant, and bidders must observe guidance and goals for the use of Minority and Woman Business Enterprises in sub-agreements. The contractor must comply with Davis-Bacon and Davis-Bacon Related Acts. 1. Unit-Price No. 1: Mobilization, Site Preparation, and Demobilization: Mobilization; general site controls, such as fencing (fencing has been established by the Owner), erection and maintenance of erosion and sedimentation control devices, project sign, temporary facilities and utilities (see Section 015000), environmental and engineering controls to contain potentially hazardous dust; and any ancillary controls/items not included in the Tasks below which are necessary for completion of the work; demobilization and Site cleanup. 2. Unit-Price No. 2: Excavation and Offsite Disposal of Soil: Cost shall include excavation of approximately 12-inches to 36-inches below grade across the front of the Site and approximately 6-inches below grade across the back of the Site in accordance with the grading plan provided on Sheet C-102; transportation and off-site disposal of soils (i.e., tipping fees, taxes, etc.); and coordination and approvals as necessary from the receiving facility. a. Contractor shall remove contaminated soil as indicated in grading plan provided on sheet C-102. b. Contractor shall properly stockpile soils onsite on 6-mil polyurethane . These stockpiled soils shall be covered at night. c. Engineer will collect soil samples for laboratory analysis of waste characterization parameters as required by the receiving facility. The Contractor shall bid this task assuming soil can be transported and disposed of as Special Waste (NonHazardous). Once laboratory results for the sampled soil stockpiles are received, Contractor will transport and dispose of soils. After results are received Contractor can live-load soils. d. Contractors shall assume approximately 2,250 tons (1,500 cubic yards) of soil will be excavated and removed from the site. 3. Unit-Price No. 3: Landscape Cover System: Cost shall include labor, equipment, tools, and other materials required for installation of a Landscape Cover System as outlined on Design Drawings. a. Cover System shall be 8-inches of aggregate base type D (Maine Department of Transportation (DOT) 703.06(b)) covered by 4-inches of seeded loam over the marker layer. b. Park mixture grass seed is required for seeding purposes. c. Contactor shall assume that the Landscape Cover System will cover approximately 2,150 square yards. d. Geotechnical marker layer shall be US65HVO Demarcation fabric or approved equal. 4. Unit-Price No. 4: Building Foundation Cover System: Cost shall include labor, equipment, tools, and other materials required for installation of the Building Foundation Cover System as outline in the Design Drawings. a. Cover System shall be 6-inches of 3/4 " washed crushed stone. The building foundation will be constructed by others. b. Contractor shall assume that the structural gravel cover system will cover approximately 950 square yards. c. Geotechnical marker layer shall be US65HVO Demarcation fabric or approved equal. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: 1. Optional Unit Price No 1. Sanitary Sewer Connections: Cost shall include labor, equipment, tools, and other materials required for excavation of sewer utility trenches from the proposed building foundation locations to the sanitary sewer on Rockland Street as outlined in the Design Drawings. a. Excavate test pits to confirm elevations of sanitary sewer. b. Trenches shall be excavated to approximately 5-feet below grade surface at a width of 4-feet. c. Coordinate with Rockland PWD for placement and size of Inserta-Tee connection. d. Elbow and place cap on line within building foundation envelop. 2. Optional Unit Price No 2. Water Service Connections: Cost shall include labor, equipment, tools, and other materials required for installation of water utilities from the existing water mains to the proposed building foundations as outlines in the Design Drawings. a. Utilities shall be coordinated and installed in accordance with local municipal services including Maine Water Company and the City of Rockland. b. Trenches shall be excavated to approximately 5-feet below grade surface at a width of 4-feet. c. Coordinate tapping sleeve and curb stop location with Maine Water. d. Utilities shall be brought into building foundation envelop and insulated/winterized in accordance with Maine Water
