Site work and paving for a road / highway in Wilton, Maine. Completed plans call for paving for a road / highway; and for site work for a road / highway.
The project involves road paving work. The reclaiming (grinding method) must cover the full width of the existing pavement to a minimum depth of twelve inches below the existing pavement, with all material reduced to a size no greater than two-inch minus. Work includes rough grading, compaction (requiring 95% compaction using a water truck and a minimum six-ton vibratory roller), and any necessary clean-up due to the reclaiming process. For HMA paving, operations shall not occur when surfaces are wet or during rain events. The base mix may be placed when the gravel base is damp but not if there is standing water. The Town will not enter into any binding agreements or contracts until after the annual town meeting and final award of the bid is contingent on funding approval at the meeting. The Town reserves the right to eliminate some or all of the proposed work at no change in unit prices if the budget is not fully funded. Streets to be shimmed and overlay Apply tack and place approximately 3/4 of an inch average of SHIM mix as an overlay to existing surfaces. Butt joints required at intersections and where paved areas are present on the edge of the roadway. All road lengths and widths are approximant.
