Site work for a water / sewer project in York, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Separate sealed bids are requested for the construction of the Nubble Road Phase VII Improvement Project. The work includes approximately 1,050 linear feet of 6, 8, and 10-inch diameter water main replacement, water services, fire hydrants, and necessary connections. All water main piping, valves, appurtenances, and pipe testing will be supplied by the owner. The contractor is responsible for providing sand bedding, backfill, and replacement gravel. Drainage improvements are being coordinated with another department and may be completed by the selected contractor. All road reconstruction, widening, curbing, and sidewalk installation will be handled under a separate contract. The contractor must perform pavement saw cutting, removal, and disposal as per the specified trench detail, but is not required to replace pavement. The contractor is responsible for rough grading and compacting trench backfill to a surface acceptable to the owner. Access for residents and emergency vehicles must be maintained at all times and only daily closure to the public is allowed. The contractor must provide required signage and traffic control devices for a safe work zone, in compliance with the DOT Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security of at least 5% of the bid price in the specified form. A performance and payment bond, each for 100% of the contract price, is required. Bidders must not withdraw their bid for 60 days after bid opening unless released by the owner. The successful bidder may be required to provide a list of sub-bidders. Within 15 days of award, the bidder must submit signed contract documents, bonds, and acceptable insurance. The contractor must start the contract within 10 days of receiving the Notice to Proceed. All project workers must be paid at least state minimum wage. The contractor must comply with applicable labor laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive deficiencies, and accept any bid in the owner's interest.
