Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Carlsbad, California. Working plans call for the construction of a 41,900-square-foot, two-story above grade municipal facility; 8,466-square-foot, one-story above grade warehouse / distribution facility; 8,467-square-foot, one-story above grade warehouse / distribution facility; 8,467-square-foot, one-story above grade warehouse / distribution facility; and 92,300-square-foot, four-story above grade, 220-space parking garage.

The Orion Center, (Project No. 3572), will centralize the city’s maintenance and operations functions into a single location on Orion Way, on a site between the Safety Center and Fleet Maintenance building. Co-location results in increased efficiency of operations, reduced environmental impacts to the community and improved cross-training and collaboration. The project also creates an opportunity to repurpose three different city properties: the Public Works General Services Division located at 405 Oak Street; Carlsbad Municipal Water District, located at 5950 El Camino Real and the Parks Maintenance yard located at 1166 Carlsbad Village Drive. As of May 8, 2023, this project is in the planning process and is working its way thru final approvals. A Conditional Use Permit was reviewed by the city on April 25, 2023. A final decision on the permit is pending. An architect and construction manager has been selected. A schedule for bidding and construction has not been determined.
