Site work for a civil project in Toronto, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The scope of work includes a large scale flood protection, municipal, and marine infrastructure project in Toronto's Port Lands. Potential development may include Flood Protection Earthworks and Lakefill, Flood Protection Structures, Bridges and Marine Structures, Roads, and Municipal Services, and Public Realm development. The Port Lands are a 400 hectare (988 acre) district bounded by the Keating Channel/Don River and Lake Shore Boulevard to the north, the Toronto Inner Harbour to the west, Ashbridges Bay to the east and Lake Ontario and Tommy Thompson Park to the south. In particular, the portion of the Port Lands lying north of the Ship Channel is at risk of flooding during a major storm, which effectively precludes the type and intensity of new development desired to spark revitalization of the area. Plans also include transforming the Don River mouth into a healthier, more natural river outlet to the lake. This project will create the area that will become Villiers Island. TIMELINE: The owner has awarded a Request For Proposals for construction managers for the Port Lands Flood Protection and Enabling Infrastructure project. The construction should be completed in 2024. Once flood protection works are complete, development could begin on Villiers Island.
