Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Delta, British Columbia. Design plans call for the construction of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
The Terminal Two Project is the construction of a new three-berth marine container terminal adjacent to the existing Deltaport & Westhore Terminals; to include eight-ten new gantry cranes; on-site container storage & intermodal facilities; to provide additional 2.4 million units of container capacity per year; ancillary systems & support facilities; tug basin expansion; rail improvements; road work; construction of a 1.5 Km long artificial island to handle ships up to 400 m long. TIMELINE: Project planning is ongoing. A request for qualifications for the landmass and wharf component of the project was issued and has closed. The three shortlisted teams are KLJ Partnership: comprised of Kiewit Construction Services ULC, Ledcor CMI Ltd. and Jan de Nul nv; Pacific Gateway Partners: comprised of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd., Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. and EllisDon Corporation; and TerraMarine: comprised of FlatironDragados Canada Inc., Van Oord Canada Ltd., Aecon Constructors, a division of Aecon Construction Group Inc. and Carlson Construction Group Inc. The progressive design-build contract will include the delivery of the marine terminal landmass; wharf structure and berth pocket; widened causeway; expanded tug basin; and environmental mitigation and onsite offsetting projects. Additional procurement opportunities may be made available in the coming years, including sub-contracts for the landmass and wharf works and a terminal concession procurement in the late-2020s to select the operator that will build, equip, and operate the new terminal. Preferred team selection is anticipated in summer 2026. Construction mobilization and early works are expected in 2027, with major land reclamation works is anticipated to begin in 2028. *A progressive design-build procurement model is being pursued.
