The primary services under this solicitation shall be to produce contract drawings and specifications, and to acquire all applicable permits for the site development and construction of a single or multi-story library. The minimum required land area for this project is approximately 3.4 acres. The site improvements will encompass the library facility of approximately 28,000 square feet, associated parking and site ingress/egress, drainage, and stormwater management. The current/existing La Plata Library was built in 1967 and desires a larger facility at a more centrally accessible location. The current building contains 12,889 square feet used as a library and an additional 3,158 square feet of basement/mechanical storage room space. The facility is out-of-date with respect to the current demands of an evolving community and population growth. To better serve the community, the Town of La Plata and Charles County Governments have collaborated on the proposed new library facility that is mutually beneficial with improved accessibility and visibility. Time is of the Essence - The design consultant shall obtain all permits and submit the completed and approved biddable contract construction documents to the County as stipulated in the Contract included herein. All work shall be completed, approved, and permitted within 310 consecutive calendar days from the date of issuance of the Noticeto-Proceed. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
