Demolition, site work and new construction of an educational facility in Chico, California. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 21,300-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

This project will construct a new 21,700 ASF/35,400 GSF facility (#108) to replace the existing instructional space of 21,300 ASF/36,900 GSF in the Aymer Jay Hamilton building (#2), built in 1950, and of 21,500 ASF/ 35,200 GSF in Modoc Hall (#21), built in 1964. Both buildings will be demolished as part of the project scope, eliminating 587 FTE (554 FTE in lecture space, 33 FTE in upper division laboratory space, and 29 faculty offices). The new facility will house all of the College of Communications and accommodate 376 FTE (350 FTE in lecture space, 26 FTE in upper division laboratory space) and 100 faculty offices. The net result is a decrease of 211 FTE (-204 FTE in lecture space, -7 FTE in upper division laboratory space), and 71 faculty offices. This project is currently in the FY 2022-2026 CIP. Per the owner, as of September 27, 2024, funding for this project has not been identified. The owner states that construction would start in 2029 at the earliest. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
