Renovation of an educational facility in Boulder, Colorado. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 22,908-square-foot educational facility.

The Guggenheim Geography Building is an important structure within the Norlin Quadrangle Historic District and has deteriorated with 112 years of use and no major renovations. Building systems will be upgraded to present-day building and life-safety codes with improvements to provide operational and energy efficiencies and create a healthy environment in which to learn and to work. An estimated 2,112 GSF fire escape will replace the metal ladder down the side of the building to meet fire code. During construction, a large portion of the interior will be removed and reconstructed to: one, provide improved access for students, two, to align spaces with modern academic pedagogy, and three, to use space effectively and efficiently. The project is proposed in two phases. The first phase is a design phase to: one, confirm program requirements for the College of Arts and Sciences and the campus, two, to complete investigation and analysis of existing conditions, three, to develop integrated value-driven strategies for new systems and new space organization and, four, to plan for temporary relocation of the building occupants. The second phase of the project includes pre-construction, construction, and commissioning of the project. As of July 30, 2025, this project is still in the conceptual phase. Construction can not begin until the Macky renovation is complete. This project will not begin until at least 2030.
