Site work and paving for a road / highway in Longmont, Colorado. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
This concrete trail is being designed as part of the Southwest Weld County Trail Alignment Study. This regional effort began in late 2023 through a partnership between Weld County, the City of Longmont, the Town of Mead, and the Town of Firestone. Phase 1 of construction is planned to begin in early 2026. Led by the City of Longmont, this first phase will construct the trail from Union Reservoir east to WCR 7. Funding for the design phase and Phase 1 of construction comes in part from two Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) grants. Phase 2 of construction is not yet funded, but when complete, it will connect the trail north to Mead High School along WCR 7 and complete the connection into the SVSP trail system. This second phase will include key features such as an underpass at WCR 26, a bridge over the Bar/Kelso Gulch, and a bridge over St. Vrain Creek. As of November 5, 2025, this project is in the design phase. A construction bid is expected to be issued in late 2025 with construction to follow in early 2026.
