Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Norwalk, Connecticut. Working plans call for the construction of a 63,500-square-foot educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
As of October 23, 2020, this project was delayed another year during the June 24, 2019 Board of Education meeting after the state rejected an application for reimbursement. The problem stems from a delay in the approval from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection of a land-swap agreement, submitted in fall 2018, that would see open space transferred from the vicinity of the old Ely School to a plot in West Norwalk, near Norwalk Community College. The land swap is a prerequisite for approval of the Columbus at Ely project, which in turn would push back the project at the old Columbus School, known as the Norwalk Global Academy, making it impossible to start construction within two years of approval, another requirement from the state.
