The proposed work is within the City of Rock Island primarily on 28th Street between 20th and 21st Avenues. The work generally consists of storm sewer construction, plus sidewalk, driveway, and pavement reconstruction. Illinois Prevailing Wage Act: This contract calls for the construction of a "public work," within the meaning of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/.01 et seq. ("the Act"); and as amended, except where a prevailing wage violates a federal law, order, or ruling, the rate conforming to the federal law, order, or ruling shall govern. The Act requires contractors and subcontractors to pay laborers, workers and mechanics performing services on public works projects no less than the "prevailing rate of wages" (hourly cash wages plus fringe benefits) in the county where the work is performed. Contractor awarded this work will be responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to this project including the State of Illinois requirements relating to prevailing wage and preference to citizens on public works. A hard copy set of the plans and specifications can be obtained at the above address for a non-refundable fee of $35.00. All construction operations shall be completed by October 6, 2023.
