Demolition, site work and new construction of an educational facility in College Park, Maryland. Completed plans call for the demolition of a three-story above grade educational facility; and for the construction of a 60,000-square-foot educational facility.
Conceptual plans call for the construction of a new engineering facility on the site of the Potomac Building, which will be demolished for the project. The new building will be connected to the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building. The new facility will include open workspaces for students, prototyping facilities, engineering design and instructional studios, a mobile applications lab, an "Internet of Things" lab and a student-run incubator. It will also house four laboratories focused on studying robotics, manufacturing, quantum technology and transportation. As of January 22, 2020, preliminary work has begun on the basement's foundation. Vertical construction is targeted to begin January 2020.
