The proposed work is generally described as follows: Construction of approximately 690 LF of 5' sidewalk, minor storm drainage, installation of pedestrian signal, and grading along Bethel School Road beginning at Saddlebrook Drive and ending at Rob Wallace Park. On all Federal-aid contracts, non-licensed contractors are permitted to submit bids, however, they must be licensed prior to performing any work. They are permitted 60 days, after bid opening, to become licensed by the North Carolina Licensing Board. If they fail to do so within 60 days, their bid will be considered non-responsive and will be rejected. If the successful bidder does not hold the proper license to perform any plumbing, heating, air conditioning, or electrical work in this contract, he will be required to sublet such work to a contractor properly licensed in accordance with Article 2 of Chapter 87 of the General Statutes (licensing of heating, plumbing, and air conditioning contractors) and Article 4 of Chapter 87 of the General Statutes (licensing of electrical contractors). Any firm that wishes to bid as a prime contractor shall be prequalified by the NCDOT as a Bidder or PO Prime Contractor prior to submitting a bid. Each Bid shall be accompanied with a deposit of cash or CERTIFIED CHECK on some bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the Bid, said check to be made payable to the Town of Midland.
