For the rehabilitation and improvement of a certain section of STATE HIGHWAY in LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Scott Township, Roaring Brook Township, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, STATE ROUTE 0435, SECTION 250. The proposed project includes the replacement of the existing bridge carrying S.R. 0435 over Interstate 84. The existing bridges are two-span steel plate girders with reinforced concrete abutments/pier perched on rock. The proposed replacement bridges will be two-span prestressed concrete PA Bulb Tee beams using similar substructures and foundations. Full depth roadway reconstruction will extend approximately 50 feet from each end of the bridge. New guide rail, pavement markings, and signing will also be installed. The proposed project will also include the removal of an existing structure mounted sign that is currently located on the existing S.R. 0435 bridge and a new monopipe frame sign structure will be constructed. During construction, SR 0435 traffic will be controlled by using single lane bi-directional crossovers, which will allow each bound to be reconstructed full width. Jug Handle Road will remain open throughout construction. Temporary long-term lane shifts on I-84 (protected by temporary barrier) will be necessary to construct the bridge replacement. Temporary single lane closures on I-84 are also expected to construct the new sign structure. Temporary traffic patterns will have speed reductions through the work zone but will not have any weight or width restrictions. All work with a total project length of 2713 linear feet (0.514 miles), all as indicated on the approved drawings included in the bid package.
