Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Lake Barrington, Illinois. Working plans call for the construction of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
As of February 21, 2022, an architect and an engineer have been selected. A firm construction timeline has not been released. This project is included Lake County Forest Preserve District's FY 2022-2026 CIP. The project consists of the design and construction of a new grounds maintenance shop at Lakewood for the Southwest Maintenance District crew. Based on evaluation of staff needs and the existing facilities at Lakewood as part of the initial Lakewood Master Plan effort, it was determined that the best course of action is to construct a new shop at Lakewood. A preliminary estimate of the appropriate size for the shop is 4500 sf. There is a strong desire for the facility to be developed as "net zero" with respect to its energy needs, and it is expected that the project will pursue support from a Net Zero Energy Building Program grant from the IL Clean Energy Community Foundation. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
