The work to be performed under this Contract generally consists of construction of water treatment facilities upgrades to rehabilitate the main piping galleries and filters of the existing East and West Plants. The principle work includes: For all Filters 1 through 30 Rebuild existing filters and convert to biologically active filters with sand and granular activated carbon media.o Install new air scour piping valves, and controls. Install new piping, valves and electrically operated motor actuators on the filter to waste piping complying with current OEPA backflow protection guidelines.o Replace the filter influent, drain and washwater valves and electric motor actuators. Replace the sample ports on filter effluent piping. Replace corroded bolts on pipe flanges and fittings.o Repair joints where leaking on existing filter rate of flow controllers.o Repair joints where leaking at floor and wall castings.o Replace main pipe gallery sump pumps. Demolish and remove existing surface wash piping, valves, actuators, pumps and related control systems. The filter headloss, differential pressure cells, turbidimeters, and related piping are to remain. Install new air scour supply system for the west plant filters consistent with Basin 7 & 8 improvements including: Addition of two (one duty, one stand-by) new, positive displacement blowers with variable frequency drives.Collins Park Water Treatment Plant Filter and Pipe Gallery Improvements 00020-2 Project No. 23509 Version: October 10, 2019 New thermal mass flow meter in the blower discharge piping to be used for blower control. Building addition to the west of filter #19 to house the new blowers. Replace washwater piping from the south wall of the Chemical Building basement to the vertical bend located downstream of the west plant washwater rate of flow controller. Install manually operated butterfly valves in the basement of the Chemical Building for providing isolation for main plant wash water and the wash water to the east plant. Replace the washwater rate-of-flow controllers for both the east and west plants. Remove and replace the existing plant water piping and valves in the Chemical Building basement, Basins 1-6 Main Galleries, Basins 1-2 Side Gallery, and connect to existing piping installed with the West Plant Backup Backwash and Plant Water System Improvements project.Remove existing 7200 volt concrete encased conduit and cable bank in the west plant chemical building hallway. Site improvements consisting of grading and drainage, and storm piping modifications in the vicinity of the proposed blower addition, and appurtenances.
