Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Banff, Alberta. Working plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.
Revitalization of the Banff Centre Performing Arts and Learning Complex. Scope of work includes the refurbishment and renovation of the Eric Harvie Theatre to create a world-class learning and performance venue with a seating capacity of 650-725 seats; expansion and interior finish upgrades to the lobby area; redevelopment of the Laslo Funtek teaching wing including the Margaret Greenham Theatre with a redesigned theatre space with an audience capacity of 100-400 and telescopic seating; and new dance classrooms with upgraded training spaces. The design of the space is to be conducive with Banff Centre's natural setting in Canada's first national park. Other work will include improvements to the backstage infrastructure and equipment, upgrades to mechanical and electrical components, and addition of digital projection capability to the Eric Harvie Theatre venue. TIMELINE: Project was put on hold pending funding approvals from the province of Alberta. Scope of work and timelines for construction will be confirmed once funding has been secured. Further update late 2025/2026, pending owner's decision to proceed. NOTE: The estimated project budget is in the range of $45 - $75 million. Theatre consultant is Charcoal Blue.
