All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid deposit by a cashier's or certified check, or Bid Bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid proposal. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into a contract and furnish satisfactory Performance Bond within the time stated in the specifications, the bid deposit or bond shall be forfeited to the City of Federal Way. This project shall consist of: Construction of sidewalk, a Downtown Staircase, and associated pedestrian walkway ramp, illumination, landscaping, irrigation improvements, and other work for the "Downtown Staircase" to be located on 21st Ave S (S 314th St to S 316th St). The Contractor shall complete all work within 100 working days. The bidder is urged to check the plans and contract provisions carefully. All bid proposals shall be in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and all other contract documents. Any prospective Bidder desiring an explanation or interpretation of the Bid Documents, shall request the explanation or interpretation in writing by close of business three business days preceding the bid opening to allow a written reply to reach all prospective Bidders before the submission of their bids. It is recommended that Bidders "Register" in order to receive automatic e-mail notification of future addenda and to place themselves on the "Self-Registered Bidders List." Bidders that do not register will not be automatically notified of addenda and will need to periodically check the on-line plan for addenda issued on this project. An informational copy of plans, specifications, and addenda are also available for viewing only at the Public Works Department, Federal Way City Hall, 33325 8th Avenue South, Federal Way, Washington.
