Site work for a sidewalk / parking lot in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The purpose of the project is to improve the Franklin Avenue sidewalk between Morrison Street and Macdonald Drive. Currently, the sidewalk on Franklin Avenue between Morrison Street and Macdonald Drive is Asphalt and concrete. This project will replace the existing sidewalk and grass boulevard area (between the back of the curb and Sidewalk) with concrete sidewalk with a dark blue concrete pattern. The proposed sidewalk will be in alignment with the rest of Franklin Avenue, create an attractive physical character at an appropriate pedestrian scale, beautify the area and create visual continuity along Franklin Avenue. The proposed scope of work is described below: 1. The contractor is responsible for shallow utility coordination. 2. The contractor is responsible for all permits needed to complete the project including fees. 3. The successful contractor must submit an ECO plan, and a health and site-specific safety plan. The ECO plan and site-specific safety plan must be submitted to RMWB for review within 14 days from receipt of the Notice of Award. No work on site shall commence prior to all documentations review and approval. 4. The contractor is responsible for Traffic Accommodation Plan and Traffic control. 5. Construction fences shall be placed on the work boundary. 6. The contractor is responsible to coordinate access to the adjacent property owner and will ensure access to the adjacent properties during construction. 7. The contractor is responsible for the printing and distribution of the construction notice to the adjacent property owners. See attached Construction Notice Overview RMWB Engineering Construction Projects for reference. 8. Atco and Signal rehabilitation contractors will be working in the same area. The contractor is responsible for coordination with Atco and signals rehabilitation contractors. 9. Remove asphalt trail and gravel sub-base. 10. Remove asphalt driveways. 11. Remove topsoil between the asphalt trail and the back of the curb. 12. Remove concrete sidewalk. 13. Remove curb and gutter. 14. Prepare subgrade. 15. Place and compact 150 mm - 20mm crushed gravel. 16. Place leveling sand. 17. Place 120 mm thick reinforced (10M - 300mm x 300 mm grid) Concrete sidewalk with coloured concrete pattern and 10M doweling with existing concrete curb and gutter @ 750 mm spacing. 18. Install concrete sidewalk ramps. 19. Install concrete curb and gutter. 20. Remove all the breakaway signs, salvage, and install signs including new signposts and sign bases. 21. Remove directional guide sign (sign face 2.44m x 1.22m) with double wooden posts and install signs with new breakaway sign posts, sign assembly, and concrete base. 22. Remove and dispose of existing directional guide sign (sign face 2.45mx 0.71m), and supply and install new sign including sign assembly, posts and bases. 23. Install 4m x 4m coloured concrete maple leaf including gravel base and leveling sand. 24. Supply and install sod and provide watering until the sod settles with existing. 25. The contractor is responsible for coordination with the other two contractors who will work on traffic signal upgrade and street light pole upgrade. 26. Site survey and quality control materials testing for the project. 27. Provide means to avoid erosion during construction and until the grass grows. 28. Leave site free of all foreign and surplus materials, cleaning equipment, obstructions, and hindrances. 29. The contractor is to utilize the drawings provided, 2021 RMWB Engineering Servicing Standards and development procedures, and 2021 RMWB Standard Construction Specification for this assignment.
