Plans call for five possible routes for moving the train tracks off the Del Mar Bluffs. Four ideas involve twin sets of tracks drilled through the ground. A fifth alternative is a deep trench that follows Camino Del Mar (Highway 101), below the roadway through the center of town. As of August 25, 206, SANDAG (San Diego Association of Governments) is currently conducting the environmental review phase and preparing a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the LOSSAN Rail Realignment project to move the train tracks off Del Mar's eroding bluffs, with the EIR expected around May 2027.
