Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Bolton, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

The Town of Bolton is seeking bids for the removal of a PVC culvert and the installation of an 8' foot wide by 5.5' deep box culvert with wing walls. The project includes a partially embedded precast box culvert, precast wingwalls, precast approach slabs, crash-compliant highway guard and associated transitions, roadway regrading and paving. The Town of Bolton Town Administrator / Board of Selectmen is the awarding authority. The existing outlet of West Pond on Long Hill Road consists of a single 40-foot long 24" diameter PVC pipe. The roadway pavement width is 18' to 24' wide. The crossing contains no subsurface utilities. Long Hill Road is functionally classified as a rural minor collector. Per email from Joseph Lynch "Clarification as to the number of sheets comprising the plan set of the bid documents. o The plan set contains 6 sheets; S-1, S-2, S-3, S-4, S-5, and S-6. o The notation made in the lower righthand corner on each sheet states "Sheet X of 7" is incorrect. There are not seven sheets." Per Scott Desrosiers " I will be providing a sheet pile cofferdam quote per the plan S-6 and boring on S-3. Based on the borings (type C), pond level, and a recent culvert replacement in Bolton, I will also be quoting a shoring box 38' x 35' x 10D (max dig depth) this provides 3'+,- clearance all around the culvert/ headwall construction. There will be 1 level of frame ( whaler), so clear opening will be 32" less that box dimensions. Box will include tight corners and be reasonably watertight. Overall disturbance to the roadway length will be 40' Allow 3-4 day to install and 2 days to remove. Price will include 1 months rental of equipment" Per Joe Lynch "Treatment of the shoulder restoration falls under... Section 8.08 of the specs 'PRESERVATION OF ROADSIDE GROWTH" and Section 445 "SHOULDERS" of Mass DPW SSH&B wherever preservation of roadside growth is impossible. The Stone for Erosion control / geotextile fabric for erosion control note is provided as a contingency item for any erosion in the vicinity of the culvert that was not visible at the time of the field reconnaissance/survey . The Stone specification is as follows: Work under this item shall conform to the relevant provisions of Section 983 and the following: Placement of the stone shall be in conformance with Section 983.62. Stone for Erosion Control shall conform to Section M2.02.0 of the Standard Specifications, except that each stone shall not weigh less than 75 pounds, not more than 125 pounds and at least 75% of the volume shall consist of stones weighing not less than 90 pounds.
