The east bank of the Chippewa River, from Madison Street to the CMF, has an existing levee which is not constructed to modern engineering standards and is inadequate to protect against a 100-year flood of the Chippewa River. The WDNR has a flood protection grant that would provide funding towards the construction cost of an engineered levee. As of February 15, 2022, this project is currently in the City of Eau Claire's FY 2022 -2026 CIP and funding is allotted for 2022. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
