Awarded Supplier: Carolina Materials Corp Question Deadline: 4/16/2019 04:00 PM (ET) This contract would only be used for backup or in case there was a County natural disaster. The successful contractor shall provide all equipment and manpower to grind wood waste stockpiles into aggregates of sufficient specifications. Grinding must result in a finished product using an adequate screen size to promote wood waste mulch, boiler grade wood chips and/or other marketable grades (maximum chip size 3"). Should pieces become too large, due to mechanical problems; the County can request a second grind, at no additional cost. Mulched material is to remain onsite. Grinding services will be required as backup to Solid Waste Management's grinding operations or as may be deemed necessary by the County for disaster cleanup. The contractor shall utilize equipment, including grinding and mulching equipment sufficiently sized to process the volume of material requested in a reasonable time frame. The equipment must be equipped with a magnetic head to collect loose nails. The Contractor shall provide such equipment sufficient to maintain, sort, move, and stock pile unprocessed, processed and contaminated materials; and support equipment including fueling, spare parts, tools, chain saws, etc. to ensure that all materials are processed in a timely manner. The contractor should exercise due care to minimize disturbance or damage to the general property and the contractor will be responsible to repair any damage, to clean up the area and regrade the area if necessary. The amount of material to be reclaimed under this contract is estimated and not guaranteed. The contractor may be requested to grind more or less than the estimated quantity of materials. Pricing will be based on aggregate processed by the ton. The unit price shall be all inclusive including mobilization costs. The wood material to be ground includes clean yard waste, pallets, construction wood and clearing debris, however, Lexington County will not assume liability for damages caused by foreign material that may be mixed in. The contractor is responsible for the separation of potentially damaging materials. The County will be responsible for disposal of any foreign material such as rock, metal, etc. Hours available for the grinding operation are: Monday through Friday - 7:00 am - 5:00 pm with the exception of County holidays (New Years Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day). In an emergency situation, other hours required to process material may be considered Safety requirements - The Contractor must abide by all Federal, OSHA, State and County safety regulations, including the requirement for all personnel operating at the Edmund Facility to wear safety green shirts, vests, etc. at all times.
