Demolition, renovation and addition to a detention facility in Dayton, Ohio. Design plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.
As of February 2024, the project is in the schematic design and programming phase. Further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. They will be cutting 226 general population beds and adding 100 medical and behavioral health needs beds. While we will have fewer total beds, from 911 to 785, the number of medical, mental health and detox beds will increase from 12 to 112. A detailed scope has not yet been released. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Consultant selection process complies with the Qualifications Based Selection (QBS) process required by Ohio Revised Code 153.65-.73. Montgomery County has not established a budget for construction since budgetary needs will be determined during this project.Consulting services and fees are budgeted for $450,000.00. The Jail has capacity for approximately 900 persons daily. Montgomery County is interested in securing the services of a professional consulting firm to continue progress towards improved housing and programming opportunities in the adult jail. The County's approach to this effort is to follow guidelines set forth by the U.S. Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections (NIC), Jail Planning and Expansion - Local Officials and Their Roles Second Edition,January 2010 Report.
