Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, sealed bids for a lump sum contract are invited from prequalified Prime Contractors for the following work: This Project shall renovate approximately 4,066 GSF of vacant space on the ground level of the 924 Westwood Building to provide an audiology clinic for the UCLA Medical Center. The Project shall combine (3) unoccupied retail suites to create a licensed outpatient audiology clinic with a public entrance from Westwood Boulevard. The clinic shall provide a waiting/reception area, a work room for hearing aid repairs, a retail display area, adult and pediatric audio exam booths, patient consultation rooms, work space for administrators and staff, and related support. Group 2 and 3 furniture and equipment, including the audiology booths, shall be procured and installed separately with coordination by the Contractor. The scope of work shall include demolition of improvements in the way of the proposed work; construction of interior partitions; provision of acoustic ceiling systems, lighting, casework, fixtures, window shades, and signage; structural upgrades to support the installation of the audio booths; provision of power; modifications to building mechanical systems; provision of mechanical ducting and systems controls; provision of a fire alarm system and conduit for telephone and data; modifications to fire sprinkler systems; abatement of hazardous materials; and restoration of building finishes impacted by the work. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $13 per hour as of 10/1/15, $14 per hour as of 10/1/16, and $15 per hour as of 10/1/17) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
