Site work, renovation and addition to an educational facility in Victoria, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the addition of a 68,418-square-foot, six-story above grade educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and educational facility.

Engineering Computer Science Expansion (ECSE) Building The Engineering Computer Science Expansion (ECSE) consists of a six storey, 6335 m2 addition to the south of the existing Engineering Computer Science building (ECS). It will contain research labs, teaching labs, classrooms and office space and will allow circulation from ECSE to ECS at each level through a connected atrium space. The construction type is classified as encapsulated mass timber. This building will be LEED v4 Gold and pursue net zero carbon certification(s). Upon completion, the ECSE and ECS will function as a single building and will be considered a single building by Code. Impact to the existing ECS building and surrounding area includes, but is not limited to: Removal of glazing from the south elevation to connect to the new ECSE atrium, Relocation of exit door from existing south stair and filling in of existing south glazing, Connection of existing corridors at all levels to the new ECSE, Potential extension of services to the ECS roof for future photovoltaics, New grading to accommodate the ECSE and access/egress, Realignment of the existing fire lane to the west, and Protection and retention of a giant sequoia tree adjacent to the ECS and new ECSE. High Bay Research and Structures Lab (HBRSL) Building The High Bay Research and Structures Lab building will be located south of the ELW in the existing Parking Lot A. This two storey, plus services penthouse, 1944 m2 building will include testing and research labs, service rooms and teaching areas as well as an exterior works yard. The Structures lab is a high-head lab with an interior height of over 12m clear. The construction type is classified as mass timber. This building will be LEED v4 Gold and will pursue net zero carbon certification(s). The high-head structures lab will include a large Strong Wall and thick Strong Floor (itself integrated with a reaction mass for a future shake table). Assuming construction of both the ECSE and HBRSL under a single CCDC 2 (2008) Stipulated Price contract, the current construction cost estimate including overhead and profit is $62.5M CDN.
