City of Ames, Iowa Public Improvement Project for the Public Works Department The city manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with his recommendations thereon, to the Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 PM local time on September 24th, 2019at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, at which time and place the City Council will hear objections to the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract for said Sanitary Siphon Rehabilitation. The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: rehabilitation of sanitary sewer siphon structures and pipes at various locations within the City of Ames in accordance with the contract documents. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. The guaranteed maintenance period shall be four (4) yearsfor new paving. Work shall commence as soon as possible after award, approval of contract and performance bond and shall be completed no later than NOVEMBER 27, 2020. Should the contractor fail to complete the work by this date, liquidated damages of $500per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract completion date. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
