The Québec City Tramway Project is in line with the priorities of the governments of Quebec and Canada with respect to sustainable mobility: improving travel, reducing air pollution, strengthening communities and growing the economy. It is the backbone of the reorganization of mobility in the greater Quebec City area, including between the two shores. The Québec City Tramway Project is a 19.3 km urban tramway line that will connect the Cap-Rouge sector to the D'Estimauville sector. It will include a tunnel insertion between the Lower Town and the Upper Town. Five interchange hubs and surface and underground stations with an average spacing of 650 meters will allow access to the tram system. Finally, park-and-ride and bicycle stations will complete the intermodality offer facilitating access to the tramway system. TIMELINE: CDPQ (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec) Infra announced it has accepted a new mandate from the Government of Québec to plan the first phase of the CITÉ plan and set up the organization required to ensure the proper development of the next stages of the tramway project.
