The project will modernize and expand the Concord Public Library through renovation of the existing facility and related interior improvements. Planned scope includes reworking the entrance and lobby, upgrading accessibility and building systems, adding dedicated children’s and archive areas, creating a 120-seat community meeting room, and reorganizing public space around a central atrium and outdoor garden. As of April 10, 2026, a conceptual study is complete, and the city has approved the plan. The work is expected to start with demolition of a deteriorated, nonfunctional addition, followed by major structural renovation of the original 1940 building. An architect has been confirmed; however, the method of selection for the general contractor has not been announced. Each firm submitting a proposal must be lawfully engaged in the services of architectural and engineering design in the state of NH. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals or any part thereof, to waive any formality, informality, information and/or errors in a proposal, to accept the proposal considered to be in the best interest of the city, or to purchase on the open marked if it is considered in the best interest of the city to do so.
