The project consists of construction of a new well house including associated 200 gpm 40HP well pumping equipment and an 8,000 gallon hydropneumatic tank. A new well house building enclosure for the well and tank plus; the associated chemical feed equipment, electrical equipment, SCADA controls, an outside stand-by generator and site/civil improvements are also included. The construction of the 900-foot deep potable water well is being completed under a separate contract that is anticipated to be completed during the spring of 2020. Also associated with the project are improvements to the existing Arbor Hills Well No. 1. The scope of work includes refurbishment of the existing well and well pumping equipment, replacement of two 40HP booster pumps, construction of two chemical closets with associated chemical feed equipment, and replacement of the process piping and equipment; plus removal of the existing electrical equipment, construction of an 8-foot by 18 foot building addition to house the new electrical equipment including a new motor control center with VFDs for the 3 pumps, installation of an automatic transfer switch and radio communications for controls to integrate with the new Well No. 2. Use of American Iron and Steel: The Contract requires the use of American Iron and Steel products. Iron and steel products means the following products made primarily of iron or steel: lined or unlined pipes and fittings, manhole covers and other municipal castings, hydrants, tanks, flanges, pipe clamps and restraints, valves, structural steel, reinforced precast concrete, and construction materials. Contractor will be required to provide Owner documentation of the use of American Iron and Steel. Contractors on the Project shall be required to comply with the minimum wages and labor standards, and conditions of employment to be observed, as determined by the Federal Davis-Bacon wage rates, under the Contract. Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and minimum wage rates to be paid under contract. Bid security in the amount of 10 percent of the Bid must accompany each Bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. The Owner encourages MBEs, WBEs, and SBRAs to submit Bid proposals.
