The current panels are outdated with minimal support from Simplex which make any repairs expensive and mostly inadequate. There are several points of damage to wiring due to corrosion, crushed conduit and underground issues. The current smoke heads are easily accessible to inmates causing tampering and false alarms consistently. During high humidity days, alarms go off several times a day causing staff to reset consistently or shut down system. There are four housing units where fire system is inoperable. The system is a legacy system installed in 1993 with an update around 2000. It has become challenging to maintain existing systems at an acceptable level of safety for the institution and its occupants. In addition, the cost of maintaining existing systems has escalated as compatible replacement parts become more and more difficult to source, adapt and install to acceptable standards. This project will replace outdated fire alarm systems and related equipment throughout the institution. There is approximately 400,000 square feet ofthe institution that will require review for current applicable code requirements and existing fire alarm and connected safety systems. New work should provide for all new fire alarm system equipment as needed, including pull stations, heat and smoke detectors, audio-visual signal devices and annunciator panels to meet
