The consultant shall attend up to three (3) meetings, as needed, with entities prescribed by Orange County, which may include elected officials and/or community members. The budget for this project is approximately $40,000. Orange County, North Carolina is releasing this Request for Proposals (hereafter RFP) seeking responses from qualified consultants to provide professional services for an environmental assessment of 164 acres known as the Greene Tract. The purpose of this environmental assessment is to obtain site-specific information on environmental and cultural conditions present on the Greene Tract. This assessment shall identify the most environmentally sensitive areas in order to identify areas to be protected and preserved and identify areas which are most suitable for development in the future. The assessment will also balance the environmental conditions in conjunction with future infrastructure (i.e. roads, water, sewer, stormwater, greenways, etc.) necessary for adjacent future development. Orange County anticipates completion of the Environmental Assessment by July 2020 at which point the final assessment will be presented to elected officials and the public and determine preservation goals for the Greene Tract. The report will fulfill the land development regulatory requirements of Chapel Hill (as the planning jurisdiction and any other jurisdiction which is more restrictive) as if a private developer had submitted a request for approval. As of May 27, 2020, the project has been awarded.
