As of January 11, 2021 this project has been awarded and construction is nearing completion. Construction documents for this project have been prepared by the Symmes Maini and McKee Associates (SMMA) who will act as the agent of the City, overseeing construction to ensure conformity to construction drawings, specifications, and standards. The City's Division of Public Space and Urban Forestry (PSUF) is responsible for project management. The City seeks a full range of construction services to renovate the approximately 9,500 square feet Central Hill Playground on Highland Avenue, between School Street and Walnut Street. Work will include site preparation, soil sampling and testing, play structures, play surfacing, walls, plants, water elements, fencing, and concrete. Trees to remain will be protected, and others will be removed. Contractor shall conduct preliminary characterization of soil based upon the field screening and visual observations. Contractor will segregate soils exhibiting PID screening levels which exceed 10 parts per million for off-site disposal, or which contain greater than 10% fill materials such as brick, coal ash, or wood debris. Contractor shall manage, document, and characterize soils that cannot be re-used on-site, and arrange for and pay all costs associated with appropriate disposal of excess soils. Provide copies of waste disposal documentation to the Owner's environmental engineer within seven days of disposal. *This project is on hold due to the public health crisis.
