Renovation of a fire / police facility in Seaford, Delaware. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
This project has been awarded to Whayland Company by the board. No further information was released during the April 14, 2020 meeting. You are invited to bid on a General Contract for the renovation of the Seaford Police Department located at 300 Virginia Avenue in Seaford, Delaware. The construction work under this contract will be broken into two phases that will run sequentially from the first to the second without interruption. Phase one shall consist of the renovation work to the existing detached garage building, re-roofing of the main building and the Lobby renovation to the main building. The garage work shall consist of adding new door and frame openings, the creation of new evidence and gym spaces, new concrete walkway, and the removal of the existing garage roof and replace with new, along with any trim, flashing, gutters and downspouts as required. Site work shall consist of miscellaneous construction of drainage elements, sidewalks and fencing. The Lobby renovation shall consist of the construction of a new vestibule, renovation of the single occupancy toilets off the Lobby, a new feature wall and new flooring and ceilings. Phase two shall consist of both the Men's and Women's Locker Room renovations as well as the replacement of damaged/discolored ceiling grid and tiles throughout the station. The contract is also to include furnishing a temporary six shower/bathroom trailer to be located on site while the locker room work is being completed. Rent and maintenance of a trailer to be the responsibility of the contractor. The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, equipment, tools, materials and incidentals, and shall perform all operations required to completely finish all of the work in the manner approved by the Architect. Potential bidders are hereby notified that this facility is critical to public safety and as such the requirement for department occupancy 100% of the time is of the highest importance. The contractor shall order his materials and schedule his work in a way that will limit disruption and down time to the facility. Existing vehicular and pedestrian access ways to the facility may not be encumbered by contractor operations and will be closely coordinated by department personnel. Subcontractors shall be qualified and experienced in projects of similar size, type and complexity as this one, and shall be subject, if requested by the Owner, to submit evidence of same prior to execution of the construction contract. Bids must be on a lump sum basis and may not be withdrawn for 90 days. Written questions will be accepted and answered via Addenda if submitted to George, Miles and Buhr, LCC (GMB) by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Questions shall be submitted via email to mhelfrich@gmbnet.com, or by fax to 410-548-5790. Questions shall include the project name in subject heading. Bidders must be registered to perform work in the State of Delaware and shall include their license number on the Bid Form. Bid Security in the amount of five (5) percent of the Bid must accompany each bid in the Instructions to Bidders. The successful Bidder's security will be retained until he has signed the Contract and furnished a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond AIA Document A312, each in the amount of the contract sum. The right is reserved, as the interests of the Owner may appear, to reject any and all bids, to waive any informality in bids received, and to accept or reject any items of any bid.
